Daycare is for dogs that enjoy the company of other dogs. A dog that loves to play with other dogs, enjoys being around new people and has lots of energy to spare without significant medical problems, is the perfect daycare candidate. Many times, this is a friendly, active dog that is already social and needs to release all their excess energy.
To fill out an application, you must first create an account on Propet, our client portal. You can find the link for this on the Home page. When you have an account, fill out your profile including your dog's info, your info, emergency contacts, credit card info, signed agreement and a copy of your dog's vaccine record. We require up to date Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella. Once you have filled out the profile, you can request an evaluation right on the portal! Click on the Book Now button and then choose New Daycare Reservation. New clients can only schedule an evaluation.
Evaluations take place at 7am on Monday, Thursday or Friday for up to 4.5 hours. You will drop off your dog and then they will be tested against our temperament checklist and meet our regular daycare clients one on one. A report card will be available on ProPet, our client portal, at the end of their appointment. Your dog will then be on a trial basis for their next 5 visits. Even if your dog passes the initial evaluation some dogs become stressed or do not enjoy daycare after being immersed in it. A good daycare will let you know if your pup is not enjoying himself or if your pup is making the daycare experience stressful for the other dogs.
The first day evaluation is $30 and any further visits are regularly priced.
Your dog may come home unusually tired; it is not abnormal for them to be tired the entire next day. That is the point of daycare, after all! Sometimes, energy creates energy. Though dogs get the opportunity to rest, they may still be amped up when they get home. They may miss you and want you to play for a few minutes. This is not abnormal either. It should be very short lived compared to non-daycare days though.
Dogs may be unusually hungry or thirsty on daycare days. They have an ample supply of water both inside and outside. We cannot force dogs to drink, but we do make sure
there is plenty of clean, fresh water available. Running and playing creates a big appetite, too!
We ask that dogs not come more than 3 days a week to give them ample time to rest at home. Daycare is a big party with all their best friends but that can get tiring if they don’t get a chance to decompress. Likewise, we require that dogs attend at least once a month in order to avoid having to readapt after time away.
All dogs must be in the building by 11am.
Since dogs play with their paws and mouths there may be times when small injuries occur. All staff from handlers all the way up to the partners are trained in Pet CPR and First Aid. We can take care of any minor issues but always communicate with you as it happens. If it is a more serious issue we will call you on our way to the VCA up the street for emergency care. If you can not be contacted we will get in touch with your alternate or emergency contact and ask to be met at the vet.
We strive hard to provide a safe, fun environment for your dog to play in. If at any point in time your dog is deemed unsuitable for this free play, cohabitant environment, you will be notified at pickup. We do our best to diligently warn you of issues as we become aware of them, before anything arises. We always want to be transparent as possible about your dog's behavior. We will always recommend training and will explore every option available to us before dismissing a dog.
Dismissal is immediate if your dog causes injury to staff or another dog in our care.
